This past week I was out at Warraweena Station in the Flinders Ranges looking after the place while the manager did some business in the Big Smoke(if you could call Adelaide that...lol).

Peace and quiet as there is no power plant running as power comes from Leigh Creek. No TV(it hasn't worked for a while) but the DVD player still works. So watch DVD's, read books, look after tourists and do some chores around the place.

So there we were, me and the dog, watching Ghost Ship, which has bit of suspense in it. Why are all these B grade movies shot in dark places? Peering at the screen with intent I was startled when there was a loud CRASH!!! on the verandah. Grabbed the torch and went outside. Not as thing but the dog's plastic bowl was lying there in a number of pieces. First thought was wild dogs as there have been sighting of feral dogs(not dingoes) in the ranges. But there are plenty of 1080 baits lying around so maybe it wasn't that. Swung the torch around........nothing.

Dog and I went inside to resume the suspense of the DVD. A short while later I saw a movement on the verandah out of the corner of my eye and tip toed to the wall and switched all the lights on.

The noise maker took off in a hurry.

Cheeky bugger he was! The biggest Euro I have seen for a long while. I reckon he would have weighed 100kilos(slightly smaller than me...lol). Within a few hops he was out of sight. He must've come it for a drink from the water bowl near the front door.

So nothing sinister at all. There is an explanation for everything.

Dog was soon snoring again :-)

Cheers

Doug and Steve,

Going by the book covers and previous posts by Mark G, there is some uncanny resemblances of Hairs ;)

Cheers Sir Kev

Years ago we went on a school camp (in grade 7). We stayed at a station just between Stirling North and Saltia, I think it was called Mundullio or something like that. Anyhow, we were in our dorm, about 8 of us boys, carrying on like pork chops, and its after 11pm, when all of a sudden CRASH. The window was smashed and the blind all pushed in. Scared the absolute bleep out of us..

We never found out what caused it.

Based on my wife's report of her school excursions, it was a teacher who was determined to get you all to shut up for the rest of the night.
